Exit Interviews: A Powerful Tool to Prevent Talent Flight … But Only if You Do Them Right

Duration: 90 minutes

When valued employees leave your company, you need to know why. To prevent future losses you must understand what drove them away -- and what you might have done to keep them. That’s what exit interviews are all about, right. In theory, yes. But there’s a problem. Most exit interviews are a complete waste of time. Fortunately, there’s a way to do them right. This webinar will show you how. (more details below)

* Approved for 1.5 recertification credit hour through HRCI & SHRM.

WHY ATTEND

So why do so many exit interviews fail to deliver any meaningful results?

First, departing employees are reluctant to provide candid feedback -- especially your high-potential employees who you want to hear from most. There’s simply nothing in it for them to “bad mouth” the company as they walk out the door. They don’t want to burn bridges. To overcome that, interviewers need to be trained on how to ask the right questions and dig deep for meaningful responses. Most are not and feedback collected is superficial at best.

Second, most information gathered during exit interviews drops into a file and dies. It’s never analyzed or passed along to the people who might turn that feedback into positive action. In fact a study reported in the Harvard Business Review found that two thirds of exit interviews result in no follow up and no change. What a waste.

The good news is, exit interviews can be a powerful tool to drive positive organizational change and improve employee engagement and retention -- if done correctly.

This webinar will give you all the tools you need to start your exit interview program or improve the one you have. You’ll learn what it takes to ensure all future interviews are goal focused, follow interview best practices and result in actionable information that’s shared with the executives and managers who can turn what you learn into action.
