Ask employees about working remote and most will tell you they love it. Better work/life balance, less commute time and more freedom. Ask the same of managers and you’ll likely hear a different story. I don’t know if my people are really working. It’s harder to communicate. Team meetings are a challenge. I don’t have as many opportunities for coaching. The good news is, remote teams can be highly productive and engaged once managers understand the key principles for leading off-site employees.
