COVID Recovery and Relief: What Employers Need to Know Now

Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 1pm ET           Duration: 60 minutes

A year after the COVID-19 pandemic first hit the U.S. in earnest, we are finally on the road to recovery. But there are obstacles ahead (complicated safety rules, vaccination policies, new employment laws).

With a new administration comes change - new executive orders got the ball rolling. Congress has passed the biggest pro-worker relief bill since the New Deal in the Great Depression. And then there are - lawsuits. (more details below)

WHY ATTEND

While employers have been conforming to the “new normal” a whole new set of obstacles are being thrown into the mix. To help you understand your obligations during the pandemic recovery phase, we’ve teamed up with employment law attorney and workplace expert Anniken Davenport. She will explain everything you need to know about OSHA and CDC rules on safe workplaces, vaccinations and new and coming legislation guaranteeing equal pay and non-discrimination for everyone.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

This 60-minute webinar will explain all your burning questions, including:

  • Which rules must we follow (CDC, OSHA, state and local health department rules) and which should be adopted as best practices?
  • Could protecting workers identified as “vulnerable” by the CDC backfire and land us in the middle of an ADEA age or ADA disability lawsuit?
  • Can we demand Covid vaccines for our employees coming back to the office?
  • Do we have to pay employees to get inoculated and if they miss work because of an adverse reaction?
  • Could careless infection control mean more than a workers’ compensation death or lost wage claim? Could it spiral into a wrongful death claim for relatives or others in close contact with your employee? (This may mean a runaway jury award)
  • How do we claim tax credits for giving employees time off for COVID related reasons?
  • How does the coming amendments to the Equal Pay Act change starting salaries and raises?
  • How do we switch back into the office, now that it’s no longer necessary to shut down workplaces for infection control?
